Summer Session I, July 14th-18th (Mon-Fri)

Our second week of Summer Session 1 was devoted to a more exclusive and thoughtful look at water, sand, and clay.  The students seemed to enjoy activities involving these materials the first week of the session. It was easy to see the benefit of playfully provoking experiences for the students with clay, water, and sand, in order to deepen the resounding fascination and fun experienced already.  The students were provided with a variety of tools at the water and sand parks to potentially allow for more specific exploration in the movement and potential manipulation of these materials.  While working with clay, the students were invited to meet the substance in a less formal way.  The more I work with students of this age, the more I am fascinated with how toddlers can benefit from interacting with these kinds of materials simply.  Also pictured are silly or fun moments had within the week.
